Shield Keg is already in Fortnite
Today, on January 4, a new item got added to Fortnite – the Shield Keg. The developers showed a teaser of it in the season’s trailer, and now it’s finally available in the game.
The item’s purpose is pretty logical, unlike some other items’ ones. When you throw the canister to the ground, it opens and shield liquid starts sprinkling around. It heals everyone around by a significan amount of shields. You can charge them from 0 to 100, but be careful – your enemies can use it too!
According to the files, these are the stats of the Shield Keg:
- Max amount in a stack: 2
- Action: restores shields
- Restored 150 shields in 30 seconds
As for the item’s location, here’s where you can find the Shield Keg:
- It spawns on the ground, in crates and chests
- Can be purchased from Lt. John Llama and The Scientist for 250 gold

To use the Shield Keg, just throw it on a horizontal surface. It starts sprinkling shields around itself, so the only thing you need to do is stand next to it and wait.
The 5th challenge week of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1starts on Thursday, and according to the files, using the Shield Keg will be one of the conditions. Therefore, if you don’t want to use the Shield Keg now, the game will make you use it anyway.
